DAY 12

“For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons and daughters of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons and daughters, by whom we cry, ‘Abba! Father!’”

Romans 8:14-15

Jesus gave all of humanity the ultimate gift—a gift that frees us from the bondage of slavery and grants us the freedom that comes from being children of God. We need no longer have a spirit of fear but have been given the Spirit of hope.

Through the Spirit of God, we receive a new life through Jesus and an adoption into the bloodline of the family of God. When Jesus broke down the dividing wall between humanity and God, He created the opportunity to be in constant communion with the Father through the Holy Spirit. At the very moment when we put our hope in Jesus, we are given His helper, the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit equips us for a relationship with Jesus, who in turn gives us the gift of knowing God as our Father.

When we see God as our father, it changes everything. At the very moment we put our hope in Jesus, all the fears of this world fall to the wayside. We become children who no longer need to worry about where our provision comes from, or whether we are loved, or what our purpose is. The perfect love of the Father that drives out all fear and creates a safe environment and strong identity through adoption into His family, enabling us to dream and hope again.

Because of Jesus Christ, we are now in a constant communion with the Father—a beautiful exchange of us putting our hope in Jesus and in return, the Father giving His hope to all of humanity. Through Jesus, we are now able to boldly step into a relationship with a loving Father who breaks down all fear.

Father, thank you for sending Jesus to us so that we may experience your hope!
