“Then Jesus returned to Galilee, filled with the Holy Spirit’s power. Reports about him spread quickly through the whole region. He taught regularly in their synagogues and was praised by everyone.”

Luke 4:14-15

Standing in this cathedral, I couldn't help but imagine what it would have felt like for the Jewish people in the synagogue that day, that heard Jesus, their promised Messiah, open up the scriptures and declare His mission and purpose: set captives free, restore sight to the blind, free those that are oppressed. I love how clear He is on what He wants to bring into our life.

What is striking me is that Jesus has just withstood the temptation of the devil and immediately goes back to announce Good News and the kind Messiah He is. Jesus announces good news. But the enemy whispers lies. But also He is the only one who has truly overcome the devil so we can rest in His victory. His Good News.
