Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” And instantly the leprosy disappeared. Then Jesus said to him, “Don’t tell anyone about this. Instead, go to the priest and let him examine you. Take along the offering required in the law of Moses for those who have been healed of leprosy. This will be a public testimony that you have been cleansed.”
After years of dealing with the ramifications of an unclean identity, He is made clean upon one touch from Jesus. A touch from Jesus is more powerful than all of the toxic touches we've experienced in our past. No matter how scarred our past (or present) is in sin, addiction, abuse — a simple faith in His touch overrides it all. No longer are we defined by what we've done, what is perceived of us, or what is done to us, but we are defined by the value and identity that Jesus has placed on us. His touch is a touch of righteousness.
He does not run from us. He is not disgusted with us. He loves us. He is the only one who can heal us, but He is also the only one who won’t run from us. What a great love this is!
