"However much you suffer, however much trouble you go through at times, God is just trying to open your eyes through a better door to a better life. He is trying to show you something that you have not seen, that you have not experienced. That is why I know with God everything is going to be ok."

ABIDE

Screen Shot 2018-06-18 at 6.34.20 AM.png

The bible says the love of God is made available for any heart that is open to it. But what does it mean to practically abide? To love as deeply, as purely, as fully, as eternally, as unconditionally, with such perfection as the love of our Lord?

To abide in God’s love is to continually find ourselves immersed in its depth. To never fade away and to always return. We are called to be constant conduits of this love. To receive it in ourselves and then to share it with the world. You see, the outpouring of Christ’s love is not an unfamiliar or unnatural experience. In fact, we were created to abide in it. We were created to clothe ourselves in His love each and every day, never letting go of what is full of presence and promise. If we don't remember to start with the Father's love for us, we will forget why we have love for others.

if we root ourselves in His love, that is how we will grow as a community. That is how we will inspire change. There is no greater love than one that never leaves.

FREEDOM

“I got saved 7 months ago. I started coming to C3. I was a reggae DJ for 7 years. And now God’s love makes me feel so different. I realized that my life was not the same anymore. I thought DJing would change my life. I made a name for myself but that’s not exactly what I wanted in life. I wanted to change people’s heart and I thought I would do through the music but I realized it wasn’t the message I wanted to put out that I wanted the people to know. I realized all I wanted to tell people about was God. And that is what I am doing right znow. From the way I used to feel back then. I used to look at life from a different perspective. I only used to think about myself. I love the work of God now. I don’t want to go back. There is nothing that can take me back. I love God. I love the church. I know with God everything is going to be ok. Everything is going to change. People just need to come together and work together. We can make Uganda better. ”

“Christ is not just interested in your soul but is also interested in your challenge and your problem. So we stand with people. We pray with people. We walk with people. We support people. We definitely show we are people of love.”

STEADY

In the rainy season, when the soil in your life is dark and rich and all of your endeavors come to fruition, it is truthfully easier to praise God. But what happens when it isn't rainy or harvest, and you are not sure that you'll make it through the season? You praise God anyway, stay faithful with the little that you have been given and much will be given to you. God always works to cultivate a spirit of faithfulness in us in the hard season.

GROWTH

Thanksgiving is both a doorway and an offering. Practicing a life marked by thankfulness is necessary if we’re going to live life well—as Paul said, “It’s a must.” It is a must because thankfulness opens our eyes to something bigger than ourselves. There are times where thanksgiving is a sacrifice, and it is in these moments that we make an intentional choice to elevate our gaze above the appearance of our circumstances to see as God sees. As we make thankfulness commonplace in our lives, not only will it flow more easily, it will empower those around us to do the same.

OTHERS

Once we love one another, we can’t fight. In the Garden of Eden, God became a friend to Adam and Eve. They walked together. God wanted to connect with them, but they tried to disconnect themselves from God. So love brings us together. In the beginning, we see through Adam, we are good friends with God. Why? It was because of love. God loved them. He wanted to be in communion, in fellowship with them. So once there isn’t love, then there is a problem. Once there isn’t love, the world will be in a mess. That’s why we talk about love. Love is important. Love brings us together.

TOGETHER

Screen Shot 2018-06-12 at 6.31.43 AM.png

Jesus repeatedly gifts us a perfect example of reckless, brotherly love throughout Scripture.
If Paul commends the Thessalonians for their expression of love throughout the region of Macedonia, we can be inspired to love the entirety of this city we call home.

Together we can lift one another up in our pursuits of loving people well. When Jesus feeds the four thousand in Matthew, he approaches his discples full of concern for the physical well-being of the people who had come to see him. The disciples mentally scramble for the closest available sustenance, but Jesus uses what they already have—seven loaves and a few small fish. It's so freeing to look down and see our nearly empty hands that could personally never adequately provide but yet be filled enough to feed four thousand.

Now go, do as Jesus did and does. Let's feed this city with love.
