The Bible overflows with stories of kindness; examples of Jesus’ life as a beacon for our own. His kindness manifests in time spent with lepers, tax collectors, and imperfect humans of all kinds. Galatians 5:22 describes kindness as one of the nine fruits of the spirit, with fruits being an extension of God’s heart and one of the pieces that combine to create a Christ-filled life. If we fill ourselves with the fruit Jesus has provided and exemplified for us, not only is our world changed but the worlds of others are also affected. To be kind is to have a heart like Jesus. To have a heart like Jesus is to love well. Therefore, being kind to others is loving others well.
Even when we are at our worst, Jesus maintains His kind heart for us. He has created us to love one another despite faults or conditions. He gives us opportunities to live this out daily. He equips us with His love so that we may also love.
