It's so easy to live in this city and forget that, as Christians, we're running this long distance race together. Even when we're connected to a community, we can forget that we're not just running alongside other sons and daughters in the present, but are helping complete the faith of those who came before us. We are the answer to prayers for NYC - prayers which may have come decades or even centuries ago, prayers for more churches and for Christians to rise up and bring about renewal in this city and its neighborhoods.

The author of Hebrews 12 states that we must "also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith..."

As we run this race towards our purpose in the Kingdom, let's throw off the weights, sins, and worries that keep us down. Let's change our attitude and ask Him for the attitude of a finisher - instead of growing weary and being taken back by temporary circumstances, let's look ahead, encouraged by faith in our relationship with Jesus Christ. He will give us endurance and strength to finish the race.
