“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
HE LOVED ME // Kaleigh Steinorth
It’s easy to read John 3:16 and think that “so loved” means God loved you this much, but really, the word “so” here isn’t a unit of measurement. Pastor Josh said on Sunday that the word “so” here means that God loved you “in this way.” Before you were even alive, before you became a Christian, before you loved Him – God loved you enough to give you everything. There is nothing you need to strive for, nothing you need to work toward, nothing you need to do to receive the love of God. Because God acted first and spoke love over you by sending His son so that he could know you, you can rest assured that all you need to do is receive it.
Through surrender, we receive God’s love so we can pour it out to the world around us, “so that everyone has no question that I made them for so much more.” God loves you.
