And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of[e] his Spirit who lives in you.

// Romans 8:11

Last week we talked about our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit. There were some great points made about how we can respect this gift we have been given by living healthy lifestyles, eating well, and exercising, while at the same time realizing that our bodies should not be our main focus. If our bodies are to be truly healthy we must start from the inside out. When our spirits are being renewed day by day through surrender to Jesus Christ, we find that this lifestyle of worship will change every area of our lives.

This inward transformation is now possible because of what Christ did for us on the Cross and through His resurrection. He paid the ultimate price so that what was unholy in our lives could be made holy. Now His Holy Spirit can reside in our lives daily, leading us, comforting us, renewing us, and making us more like Him.

This week we want to dig deeper, looking into what it means to be alive to Christ in our spirit man – not just showing the outward appearance of worship but experiencing the true freedom that comes when the Spirit of God invades every part of our lives.

If this is going to take place in us, we must put our faith in the grace of Jesus Christ – not in our own works, but resting in the finished work of the Cross and the hope-giving life of His resurrection.

May this week stir us to receive the fullness of the Spirit of Christ that is available to us, so we are never the same again; let’s be living from a new, eternal perspective.
