EXPERIENCE OF HIS LOVE

“And to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”

// Ephesians 3:19

To know Christ’s love is one of the most exhilarating experiences. It’s the greatest love that has ever been. It can’t be bought, measured, or contained. His love is exceedingly above all our expectations. It’s strong, affectionate, engaging, powerful, wonderful, surprising, and it brings freedom. We want to understand it but we can’t, His glory and magnificence are beyond our knowledge; we need to experience it personally and have faith in His love for us.

We will never fully have that knowledge, so 'to know' is through both faith and experience. We believe in the Gospel of Christ and that structures our experiences of Him. When we first make a decision to follow Christ His love is overwhelming, this is our first experience with Him. Then as time progresses we move into a faith-love, where we reach out and step into love as we develop a relationship with Jesus. It’s not just a fleeting moment but an every minute decision – a day in day out relationship. He becomes our best friend and His love is breathed into our souls.

Being filled with the fullness of God means He adds to us more experiences by which to comprehend God as a divine being. Such experiences come through prayer, reading the Scriptures, fellowship with others, spending time in worship, and so on. With each, we are invited to know God on an intimate, close level. It’s a fullness of joy, peace, holiness and completeness. It's Christ dwelling within us.

When Christ dwells in our hearts we first have love perfecting our faith, which roots our life in Him, then we grow in knowledge of Him through different experiences. We enter into the unsearchable riches of His love to us. Our soul will be filled up to the perfection of likeness to Him, renewing and deepening through all time and eternity. Today, you can experience this love and fullness – go on a journey and ask God to show you.
