“According to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood: May grace and peace be multiplied to you.”

// 1 Peter 1:2

Our sanctification – our holiness – is the Spirit’s job, and it’s a job He loves. He’s brilliant at it, in fact! His great joy is to be the bearer of truth in our lives. His primary purpose is to usher us into encounters with the Father. As we receive revelation and knowledge, in accordance with the measure of our faith, these encounters become ongoing, passionate and all-consuming. We are communing with our Father; worshiping Him in spirit and in truth through the purifying work of the Spirit.

Our heavenly Father loves us so much that He has given us access to tap into an authority that releases immense amounts of grace and peace. Through Jesus, we not only have this inheritance but a destiny to be a people of the peace of Jesus. How much more does the perspective of our lives change when we live in this authority, saying “I’m a child of God, and I’m not asking the Lord for authority but rather choosing to access the authority He’s already given me, choosing to live my life in peace. Fear, stress, and anxiety are not my destiny.” We speak the language of Heaven when we speak in line with our destinies. And this is the Father’s good pleasure when we speak in accordance with His truth – developing a heart attitude produced by the sanctifying, indwelling work of the Holy Spirit.

It is through no merit or doing of our own, but it is God Himself who has determined, by the work of the Spirit, to keep us obedient through the sacrifice of Jesus. God the Father has ordained, Jesus Christ has secured, and the Holy Spirit carries out the making of our holiness. Grace and peace will be multiplied to us as we open our hearts to the Holy Spirit, because He brings us into the Father’s heart, a heart full of grace and peace.

Let our language therefore increasingly reflect our identities as people of grace and peace. Let us receive our identities with glad hearts and speak our destinies back to our Father. He loves when we speak truth. Let’s delight Him today.
