“And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth.” John 14:16
Sometimes we can look at the time when Jesus was here in human form and wish He was still here in that form. If we are honest with ourselves, there is a sense that because Jesus is not here we somehow serve an absent God. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Jesus came to show us the Father so that any question of who He is was answered once and for all, but more than that He wanted to give to everyone the very Spirit of the Father. His very Spirit of sonship. He didn’t leave His disciples then, and He hasn’t left us now. He is, indeed, with you now. Anyone who places their faith in Christ receives not only rock solid doctrines to live by but also the very person of the Holy Spirit—an Advocate who would fight for us, enable us, empower us and lead us into all truth.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever—not just in character and nature, but in presence. He came as fully God and fully human to die on the cross and rise again so that everyone could have His presence. For all who believe in Him would receive not a moral code to live by, but rather He opened the way for His very presence to indwell us. The same power that raised Christ from the grave now lives in us. The Holy Spirit resurrected Jesus, and that same Spirit is now available today for us. The unchanging God gives us His unchanging Holy Spirit to bring total transformation and freedom. He will never leave us nor forsake us. May we welcome the Holy Spirit into our lives today afresh, not as a concept but as the very person of God. He is Spirit. He is the same. He is here.
He is Spirit. He is the same. He is here.
